Jane Price was born on 10th November, 1809, in Lewisham, Kent, the child of James Partridge and Mary Price. She married Henry Smith on 15th April, 1833, in Islington, Middlesex. They had nine children in 20 years. She died on 19th September, 1885, in Gough Town near Merrylands, New South Wales, having lived a long life of 75 years.

From England to Australia: In 1857, Henry and his wife Jane together with their younger children emigrated from Liverpool, Lancashire to Sydney, New South Wales. They left Liverpool on the 28th January 1857 and arrived in Australia aboard the vessel “John and Lucy” on 6th May 1857. The children accompanying Henry and Jane Smith on the  98 days voyage were: Mark, Isaac, Joseph, Clarissa, Frank, Grace and David. The birth of a new baby Emma in 1857 is subject to review.

The Funeral of Jane Price moved from the residence of Mr. James B. Price, Sophy Cottage, Goughtown, for the Necropolis at 1.45 p.m. on 21st September, 1885. Jane was buried in the Independent Old Ground & Old Ground Extension section of Rookwood Cemetery.
