Colour Coding

To help you see lineages at a glance, colour coding is used to mark all the direct-line ancestors and descendants of any given person. The colouring scheme is based on the classic four-colour system created by Mary E. V. Hill.

Our website will use a four-colour system to apply different colours to four different lineages: the paternal father’s line, the paternal mother’s line, the maternal father’s line, and the maternal mother’s line.
